Keith Allen DeBerg, 88, of Osceola died Wednesday, January 26, 2022 at Chariton Nursing & Rehab Center in Chariton, Iowa.
He was born April 4, 1933 in Kelsey, Iowa the son of Krene and Sarah (Harken) DeBerg and brother to Marvin DeBerg and Lois Folkerts.
He met his life long love, Virginia Mae Jones at Bristow High School his senior year. They married in 1953.
Keith was dedicated to his family, his friends, his country and his community.
He served in the United States Army from 1953 to 1955, stationed in Colorado Springs, CO.
After serving his country, he and his “beautiful bride” settled in Waterloo, Iowa. He started his career in the meat packing industry as a graveyard janitor at Rath Packing Company.
Two daughters, Deb and Lisa joined the family in 1960 and 1962.
Keith worked his way to be the Corporate Production Manager at Jimmy Dean Meat Company by way of multiple moves. The family enjoyed adventures in Sioux City, Iowa; Omaha, NE; Papillion, NE and Hereford, TX before landing in Osceola, Iowa in 1976. He made one more move to Dyersberg, TN before returning to Osceola to close the plant in 1993.
Keith is survived by his wife of 68 years, Virginia DeBerg of Osceola, IA; daughters, Deb DeBerg of Waukee, IA and Lisa (Kim) Allyn of Santa Cruz, CA; granddaughter, Ashley (Tim) Harles of Oroville, CA; , great-grandchildren, Arianna, , Jordyn,, Makennah and Brody Keith as well as amazing friends Randy and Jeanie Short, Bruce and Paula McClafin and Bud Jones.
Keith requested no service. Instead, he asked we all do a toast to him and reminisce the good times with a smile on your face.
