Helen German

Helen Adel Morris German, 80, of New London, died, Thursday, August 12, 2021 at Southeast Iowa Regional Medical Center, West Burlington. She was born February 6, 1941, in Osceola, Iowa to Chris Edward and Dorothy Evelyn Haller Morris. She married Bernard Morris German on April 29, 1960 in Osceola; he preceded her in death on July 23, 2003.

She attended school in Osceola. As a child, she attended the Christian Church in Osceola. Mrs. German was a homemaker who enjoyed gardening and canning, sports, camping, going to the New London Country Club, and time spent with family, especially her grandchildren and great-granddaughter.

Survivors include her son Ron German and daughter Rhonda (Doug) Powers, both of New London; five grandchildren, Dustin (Kathryn), Trevor (Ashley), Jake, Cory and Natalie (Dakota); great-granddaughter Braylee; sister Deloris (Don) Reasoner of Osceola and two sisters-in-law, Cherie Morris of Des Moines and Connie Morris of Indianola. Besides her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her son Stephen; brothers Marvin, Darrell and Charles Morris; and sisters Toni German and Gerry Putney.

Visitation will begin at noon on Monday, August 16, 2021 at Elliott Chapel, New London with the family receiving friends from 5-7 p.m. The funeral service will be at 11 a.m., Tuesday, August 17 at Hopeville Community Church in Hopeville, Iowa with Mr. Mike Taylor officiating.
