According to a Clarke County Sheriff’s report, Larry Lee Wood, 77, of Osceola, driving a 2017 Chevy struck a deer that appeared in the roadway in front of his vehicle.

Estimated damage was $5,000.

No citations were issued after an accident 6:15 p.m. Dec. 2 on the 1400 blk of Highway 34.

According to a Clarke County Sheriff’s report, Benny Joe Mouchka, 40, of Ankeny, driving a 2012 Nissan was traveling westbound on Highway 34 where there were two horses belonging to Daniel Shetler, of Murray, standing in the roadway, Mouchka swerved to avoid the horse that was near the shoulder of the road but was unable to avoid striking the horse that was in the middle of the road.

Estimated damage was $7,500 to Mouchka’s vehicle and $3,000 for Shetler’s horse.

According to a Clarke County Sheriff’s report, Joshua Michael Stansell, 20, of New Virginia, driving a 2014 Toyota truck struck a deer that entered the roadway.

Estimated damage was $10,000 to Stansell’s vehicle.

Mark Alan Brownlee, 55, of New Virginia, was cited for failure to obey traffic control device after an accident 1:45 p.m. Dec. 9 at the intersection of Washington Street and Main Street.

According to an Osceola Police report, Brownlee, driving a 2010 Dodge truck ran the red light at the intersection and struck Heather Lynn Reese, 38, of Osceola, driving a 2016 Mitsubishi as she proceeded through the intersection with a green light.

Estimated damage was $2,000 to Reese’s vehicle.

No citations were issued after an accident 10:35 a.m. Saturday at Southwest Boulevard.

According to an Osceola Police report, Stanley Leo Birchem, 76, of Leon, driving a 2017 GMC was merging into the turn lane to turn onto Southwest Boulevard when his vehicle was struck by Douglas Lynn Horney, 65, of Davis City, driving a 2000 GMC truck as he attempted to enter the turn lane as well.

Estimated damage was $3,500 to Birchem’s vehicle and $2,000 to Horney’s vehicle.

No citations were issued after an accident 2:36 p.m. Sunday on the Interstate 35 SE loop.

According to an Osceola Police report, Kassidy Mae Becker, 22, of West Des Moines, driving a 1995 Jeep was merging onto Interstate 35 when her vehicle lost traction and began to spin, the front left side struck the guard rail and rolled backward so the driver side rear also struck the guard rail and was hung up before drifting off into the east shoulder.

Estimated damage was $1,000 to Becker’s vehicle.

According to an Osceola Police report, Annalise Nicole Minnick, 23, of Leon, driving a 2019 Jeep struck David Jon Henry, 60, of Osceola, driving a 2018 Utility snow plow after Minnick slid onto McLane Street from the Playa Margaritas parking lot.

Estimated damage was $500 to Henry’s vehicle and $15,000 to Minnick’s vehicle.

No citations were issued after an accident 3:16 p.m. Sunday on North Fillmore Street.

According to an Osceola Police report, Ryan Mitchell Brockelman, 28, of Osceola, driving a 2014 Ford was attempting to stop at the intersection of Fillmore and Shaw but slid through the stop sign when Marty Allen Ball, 30, of Grimes, driving a 2009 Nissan eastbound on West Shaw Street swerved in order to avoid a collision but skidded sideways and both card tires struck each other and were knocked off their rims.

Estimated damage was $1,000 to Ball’s vehicle.

No citations were issued after an accident 3:54 p.m. Sunday on the Interstate 35 SW ramp.

According to an Osceola Police report, Houmphang Vannasaeng, 53, of Des Moines, driving a 2003 Ford truck was traveling south when he attempted to make a left hand turn east on to Elk Street but was unable to stop and slid through the intersection and struck a light pole on the roadway for Interstate 35.

Estimated damage was $10,000 to Vannasaeng’s vehicle and $5,000 to the DOT’s light pole.
