Accidents

No citations were issued after an accident 3:50 a.m. Oct. 31 on Interstate 35.

According to a Clarke County Sheriff’s report, John Charles Gossard, 45, of Ankeny, driving a 2017 Dodge truck was south bound on Interstate 35 when he crossed over a bridge and hit black ice causing the vehicle to lose traction and enter the west ditch sideways, roll and come to rest on upright.

Estimated damage was $15,000 to Gossard’s vehicle.

No citations were issued after an accident 7:20 p.m. Oct. 31 on the Interstate 35 NE loop.

According to an Osceola Police report, Samuel Tesfa Sebhat, 38, of Texas, driving a 2007 Volvo semi was attempting to enter the north bound lanes of Interstate 35 when the vehicle hit black ice and jack knifed as Raymond Freeman, 72, of Des Moines, driving a 2015 Freightliner semi attempted to go around Sebhat’s vehicle his vehicle jack knifed also and the trailer of Freeman’s vehicle struck the trailer of Sebhat’s vehicle.

Estimated damage was $15,000 to Sebhat’s vehicle.

No citations were issued after an accident 8:50 a.m. Oct. 31 on the 1500 blk of Liberty Highway.

According to a Clarke County Sheriff’s report, Cameron Andrew Johnson, 18, of Woodburn, driving a 2007 Ford was north bound on Liberty Highway and stuck black ice causing the vehicle to slide and enter the east ditch.

Estimated damage was $8,000 to Johnson’s vehicle.

No citations were issued after an accident 4:35 a.m. Friday on a private drive at Lakeside Casino.

According to an Osceola Police report, Robert Shawn Bossler, 39, of Garden Grove, driving a 208 Nissan was leaving Lakeside Casino and driving as his vehicle died causing it to leave the roadway and strike a light pole on Lakeside Casino property.

Estimated damage was $2,000 to Lakeside Casino’s light pole and $2,000 to Bossler’s vehicle.

No citations were issued after an accident 8:55 a.m. Friday on the 3100 blk of Highway 34.

According to a Clarke County Sheriff’s report, David Reid Poole, 34, of South Carolina, driving a 2015 Ford truck west on Highway 34 was unable to avoid a deer as it entered the roadway.

Estimated damage was $5,000 to Poole’s vehicle.

No citations were issued after an accident 5:35 p.m. Saturday at the intersection of South Temple Street and West McLane Street.

According to an Osceola Police report, Jamie Lee Werneburg, 43, of Osceola, driving a 2004 Aprilia motorcycle south bound on South Temple Street and was attempting to turn right onto West McLane Street when the front wheel slid and the motorcycle fell to the right trapping Werneburg’s leg beneath it.

Estimated damage was $800 to Werneburg’s vehicle.

No citations were issued after an accident 6:25 a.m. Monday on the 1300 blk of Liberty Highway.

According to a Clarke County Sheriff’s report, Kevin Leroy Obermeier, 59, of Woodburn, driving a 2009 Chevy truck was north bound on Liberty Highway and was unable to avoid a deer as it entered the roadway.

Estimated damage was $4,000 to Obermeier’s vehicle.
