Stanley Glenn Stickler, son of Glenn Stickler and Eunice (Thompkins) Stickler, was born Oct. 16, 1925, in Osceola. Stan received his education in Clarke County graduating from Osceola High School. He served his country during World War II in the Air Force. Stan piloted many missions in a single engine fighter plane escorting bombers over Europe.

On Oct. 3, 1976, Stan married Roberta Lenore Stickler in Osceola. After World War II, jobs became scarce in Osceola, but electricity had come to rural Clarke County and Stan found work wiring rural homes and farm buildings. He also installed plumbing. After three years, Stan went into business for himself. He rented a shop at 108 E. Jefferson and Stickler Plumbing and Electric continued at this location for 41 years. In 1949, Stan added televisions, sound equipment and service.

Stan was a member of the Davis Pence Post No. 69 American Legion for more than 65 years, Osceola Eagles Lodge and Veterans Affairs. He was very involved with the Senior Citizens Center, delivering meals and providing transportation for many. Every spring, third and fourth graders visited the Goeldner’s Patch, and Stan and Lenore would give fishing instructions and furnish fishing poles to each student.
