Early Thursday morning of Sept. 3 tragedy struck the home of Joe and Michell Sciarrotta. Fire broke out around 3 a.m. and completely destroyed their newly built home. Fortunately the four family members got out safely. I'm sure there are four people that are very thankful that they got out safely. A house can always be replaced.
The Union State Bank of Truro is taking donations for the family to help with buying clothes, etc. The couple wasn't able to save anything before leaving the house other than themselves.
Congratulations to the Truro Public Library who has met the conditions for state accreditation for another year. Achieving accreditation requires a significant, on-going local commitment to high quality library services. Our library has been recognized for its efforts in all areas of library administration including governance and funding; staffing; library collection; services; public relations; and access and facilities. This says a lot about the people who work to bring you a good library which includes the Library Board and our Librarian and aides. Be sure to thank them for all their hard work as they are doing it for you and me.
A baby shower was held for Tammy (Kennedy) Mitchell on Aug. 29 at Calvary Baptist Church. The event was well attended with several family members in attendance as well as ladies from the Church. Tammy and Ryan’s baby is due in October.
