Michael Leroy Britt was born on April 19, 1957 in Newton, Iowa to Thomas Oscar and Shirley Vyrlee (Hanke) Britt. He passed from this life unexpectedly on Tuesday December 27, 2022 at Clarke County Hospital in Osceola, Iowa at the age of 65.
As a child, Mike’s family moved to Wheaton, Illinois where he attended elementary school. His family moved back to Iowa in 1971 where he then attended schools at Colfax-Mingo and East Union Community Schools.
Mike became a father in 1981 to his daughter, Bernice.
As an adult, Mike enjoyed his time spent with his family and his friends. He loved to camp, mow lawns and listen to his music.He worked for some time at Lyric Theatre in Osceola, the Osceola I-35 rest areas and spent some time traveling with the carnival.
Mike is survived by his daughter, Bernice Britt of Thayer. Sisters; Mary Kistler of Thayer, Ronda Britt of Thayer, Tammy (Rod) Lawrence of England. Aunt; Beverly Dodd-Koskosky of Florida. Nieces; Christina (Josh) Tripp of Murray, Stacia (Justin Brown) Mongar of Clearfield, Savannah (Dylan) Flowers of Thayer and Tiffany Lawrence of England. Nephews; Shane (Jessica) Mongar of Murray and Curtis (Kristine) Mongar of Murray. Great nieces and nephews; Remington (Maddie) Cook, Keaton Brammer, Jordin and Cooper Tripp, Gauge, Grady and Gracie Mongar, Kane and Kenzi Mongar and Allisyn Brown. Great-great niece Riverlynn Cook. As well as many cousins and good friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Shirley Britt, grandparents, Oscar and Lucinda Britt and Mary and Merlo Hanke, brother Thomas Oscar Britt, Jr., brother in law Dale Kistler, great-niece, Madison Cook, great-nephew Rylon Cook.
Services will be held at Murray Cemetery, Tuesday January 3, 2023 at 11:00 am with Pastor Chuck DeVos officiating.The family will greet friends from 9:30 am to 10:45 am Tuesday, January 3, 2023 at Kale Funeral Home.
