Shirley Jackson

Shirley Ann Jackson, daughter of  Clarence “Ike” Ivyl  Jackson and Verda Louise Mallatt Jackson was born November 17, 1950 in Osceola, Iowa and passed from this life Tuesday, August 23, 2022 at Veteran’s Hospital in Omaha, Nebraska at 71 years of age.

Shirley received her education in Decatur and Clarke Counties and graduated from Clarke Community Schools. Later served her country with the United States Air Force and the Air National Guard attaining the rank of Airman First Class. Following her military service, she worked various jobs as well as owning a greenhouse east of Osceola. She began working as a Dispatcher at the Clarke County Sheriff’s Office in Osceola and retired from Clarke County in 2020 as the Dispatch Supervisor after 28  years of dedicated service.

She enjoyed working with her law enforcement family over the years and was well respected and dedicated to their success. In her spare time, she enjoyed gardening, fishing, working with computers and doing family history, playing cards and spending time with her family and friends.

Those relatives who preceded Shirley in death were her parents, Verda Louise Jackson, Clarence “Ike” Ivyl Jackson; brother, Larry Dean Jackson and her still born son, Joshua Edward Jackson Thayer.

Shirley leaves to cherish her memory her siblings, several nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles and many other special loved ones.

Per her wishes, Shirley has been cremated and there will be graveside services with military rites held Saturday, September 3, 2022 at 11:00 A.M. at Van Wert Cemetery.

A luncheon will follow at the Weldon Community Center
