At the Feb. 27 meeting of the Clarke County Board of Supervisors, the supervisors approved the farm to market rock resurfacing project bid of contract for project #FM-CO20(128)—55-20.
The single, sealed bid submitted to the supervisors was from Schildberg Construction Co. Inc. of Greenfield. The bid total came in at $505,584.00, and was for granular surfacing on roads classes D and class A, crushed stone.
The breakdown of the bid was:
Class D crushed stone in the quantity of 8,610 tons at $23.65, total amount $203,626.50
Class D crushed stone in the quantity of 2,470 tons at $24.45, total amount $60,391.50
Class D crushed stone in the quantity of 2,730 tons at $24.45, total amount $66,748.50
Class A crushed stone in the quantity of 7,150 tons at $24.45, total amount $174,817.50
The final bid amount included the material and hauling.
“[It’s] slightly higher than our engineer estimate, but only a couple thousand away, so I recommend we go forward on this,” said Clarke County Engineer Christian Boehmer of the bid. Last year’s accepted bid from Schildberg included an additional Class A road, with a total bid amount of $539,366.50.
The supervisors approved the bid 3-0.
