Safe delivery on Interstate 35

Jeff and Mallory Jamison, of Osceola, were northbound on Interstate 35 in the morning March 24, but the birth of their daughter, Macy RayAnn Jamison, came before they could get to the hospital and before emergency services could reach them. At mile marker 72, Jeff delivered their second child.

“They [emergency services] were very quick to respond and the 911 dispatcher was very helpful,” said Mallory.

Macy was born 6:52 a.m. March 24 weighing 6 pounds 10 ounces and was 19 inches long.

“We are all doing great,” said Mallory after returning home Friday. “We are just thankful for the speedy arrival of the West Des Moines Fire and Emergency Medical Services and Police Department.”
