Supervisors approve construction at hog confinement, set public hearings

At the Clarke County Board of Supervisors meeting Monday, the board approved the cyber liability renewal contract.

The public hearing regarding vacating Fox Lane was set for 9 a.m. May 24. The board then set another public hearing regarding the fiscal year 2020-21 budget amendment for 10 a.m. May 24.

The board approved a construction permit for Big Valley Farms LLC, in Troy Township. Big Valley Farms LLC plans to remove two swine confinements and replace them with one confinement building. The building will be able to hold 3,352 head of gestating swine and 789 head of farrowing swine. The project has already been approved by the Iowa DNR.

“If the public is against it they have the option of coming in here or giving their complaints to me but I have received nothing,” said Janice White, Clarke County Auditor.
