Henry Siefkas

Henry william Siefkas, lifelong Clarke County resident, was born near Lacelle in Knox Township in 1897 and received his education in Clarke County schools. In 1922 he married Eula Kelley. They were the parents of three daughters. He was a successful farmer for forty years operating his father’s farm as well as his own. He took a leading part in the affairs of the community serving as Township Assessor, school board member, board member of the Rural Electric Association, Chairman of the Farm Bureau Association and Director of The Star Telephone Company. Siefkas served as Republican State Representative in the 48th, 49th, 50th, 51st, 52nd and 53rd General Assemblies with Eula by his side as his secretary. He retired in 1965. He died in 1981 and is buried by his wife in the Murray, Iowa cemetery.
