Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont meet
EDDYVILLE – Central Decatur took second and third-place team finishes, while Clarke had an eighth-place team finish and two runners in the top-20 at the Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont meet Tuesday, Sept. 22.
The Class 2A No. 9 Central Decatur boys finished in third place, scoring 79 points. Class 2A No. 10 Albia finished ahead of the Cardinals with 72 points, and Class 1A No. 5 Pekin grabbed the top spot with 50 points. Clarke’s eighth-place finish saw 195 points.
Central Decatur’s girls finished in second place with 62 points, behind Class 1A No. 2 Pekin, who scored 15 points with five runners in the top-seven. Clarke’s two varsity runners did not field a team.
For the boys, Central Decatur’s Class 2A No. 5 Will Gillis finished in second place with a 17:12.54. Tyson McDole took home eighth place, running an 18:45.78. Vincent Carcamo rounded out the medalists for the Cardinal boys, running a 19:32.16 for 13th place.
Cal Lundquist was the top scorer for Clarke’s boys, coming in 19th place (20:08.94). Ethan Domina grabbed 39th place, running a 22:30.12. Steven Hiatt (23:20.30) and Nathan Bishop (23:22.47) finished in 44th and 45th places, respectively.
On the girls’ end, Central Decatur’s Harrisen Bevan finished in ninth place, running a 23:13.62. Hadley Bell was close behind Bevan, finishing in 12th place (23:40.03). Kaydee Swartz (24:45.58) and Aniston Jones (24:54.59) finished in 18th and 19th places, respectively.
Clarke’s Katie Donaldson finished in 17th place with a time of 24:26.75. Rebecca Van Buren ran a 29:13.65, enough for 48th place.
