Clarke puts three on all-South Central teams

Clarke baseball put three players on the all-South Central Conference team, with Matthew Stickels making the second team and Casey Kindred, Zethann May and Will Smith on the honorable mention group.

Second team

Stickels was second on the team with a .270 batting average, driving in three RBIs on the shortened season. At the plate, he went 10-for-37 with each hit being a single. On the base paths he scored four runs and stole two bases.

Honorable mention

Kindred hit in the heart of the lineup, splitting time in the middle infield with May. He hit a team-high .364 with another team-high in on-base percentage, .488. He had two home runs and nine RBIs on the season. He was the workhorse for the rotation, pitching 26 1/3 innings, striking out 31.

May was a versatile piece for the Indians, playing shortstop, pitching and hitting at the top of the lineup. He had a .475 on-base percentage as a junior with two doubles, seven walks and five hit by pitches. On the mound, he pitched 18 2/3 innings, striking out 17 batters.

Smith hit .256 for the Indians, driving in seven runs with two doubles added to his resume. He also had a .318 on-base percentage. Behind the plate, Smith was the main catcher, throwing out five runners on the season and finishing with a .965 fielding percentage.
