Murray to share Superintendent with East Union for one year

Murray Community Schools current superintendent Alan Miller has decided to retire from Murray Schools after 11 years.

After the Murray School Board took a close look at financials and considered the best interest of the students and school district it was decide to do a shared superintendent with East Union Schools with East Unions’ current superintendent Ken Kasper. Kasper has been East Union Superintendent for over two years.

The East Union School Board approved the shared role of its superintendent at their meeting April 2 and Murray School Board approved the agreement April 7. The sharing agreement is only for one year starting July 1 and will be reviewed next spring.

There is no intention of ever consolidating the two districts together.

Kasper will be splitting his duties 50/50, planning on spending half days at each school with a rotating morning and afternoon schedule. He will also split sporting events and activites.

“The Murray School Board and staff  is excited for Ken to join our team as our new leader.  His enthusiasm and passion for his job and education is definitely felt through his emotions when you work with him,” said Murray School Board President Staci Heaberlin. “We at Murray are excited to begin this new chapter with Mr. Kasper and are excited for all the positivity, for our students, staff, and community.”
