Marjorie Griffith

Marjorie Anna Griffith, daughter of Lawrence Lohman and Marthena G. Jacobs Lohman was born September 30, 1946 in Quincy, Illinois and passed from this life Friday, November 8, 2019 at her home in rural Clarke County, Iowa at 73 years of age.

Marj received her education in Quincy, Illinois where she graduated from Quincy Business College.

She was united in marriage to D. Bart Griffith on November 29, 1969 at Calumet Presbyterian Church and three children, Dawn, Doug and Darci blessed this union.

Over the years, Marj worked at the Osceola Sentinel and Tribune and also served as the Airport Manager for City of Osceola from 1990-2000. She attended the First Christian Church in Osceola where she taught various youth groups for many years. She was also a 4-H leader for over ten years in Clarke County.

Those relatives who preceded Marj in death were her parents, Lawrence Lohman and Marthena G. Lohman and sisters, Pauline and June.

Marj leaves to cherish her memory; husband of nearly fifty years, D. Bart Griffith of Osceola, IA;  daughter, Dawn (Mario) Hammitt of Round Rock, TX; son, Doug (Amanda) Griffith of Ankeny, IA and daughter, Darci (Jason) Embrey of Bondurant, IA; seven grandchildren, Ivory and Madison Hammitt, Elizabeth, Drew and Tanner Griffith, Addison and Aydenn Embrey. Also surviving are her brother, Philip (Sherrie) Lohman of Quincy, IL and brother-in-law, Roy Powell of Springfield, IL as well as other relatives and many friends.

Services will be held at Kale Funeral Home in Osceola, Friday November 15, 2019 at 11:00 am with Rev. Rick Miller officiating.

Visitation will open after 2:00 PM Thursday, November 14 and  the family will greet friends from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm Thursday evening at Kale Funeral Home.

Interment will be in the Fremont Cemetery in rural Clarke County
