Billie Sweeney, 40, of Winterset died Sunday, June 5, 2016, at her home.
Visitation will be held 1 to 8 p.m. Friday, June 10, at Ochiltree Funeral Service, 1823 N. John Wayne Dr., in Winterset with family present from 5 to 8 p.m. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, June 11, at Winterset Community Church with burial following in Winterset Cemetery. Billie JeanMarie Smith, daughter of James and Roberta (Woods) Smith, was born Nov. 6, 1975, at Clarke County Hospital in Osceola. She graduated from Clarke Community High School in 1994, and during high school she was an all-state basketball player. Billie went on to graduate from Waldorf Junior College where she played basketball. She later received her Bachelor of Arts in education from Simpson College.
On June 23, 2001, Billie married Zach Sweeney at First Christian Church in Osceola.
Billie was a teacher and coach having worked in the Tri-County, Clarke Community and Winterset Community school districts. She also worked for a short time at Legacy Financial in Des Moines before teaching in Winterset.
Billie was a member of Winterset Community Church.
Billie is survived by her husband Zach Sweeney and son Jaden Sweeney, both of Winterset; parents, Jim and Bert Smith of Osceola; siblings, Jamie (Leann) Smith of Truro, Jaci Smith (David Watson) of Murray and Mark Browne of Osceola; in-laws, Pat and Katy Sweeney of Waterloo; sister-in-law Erin Sweeney of Des Moines; brother-in-law Ryan (Belinda) Sweeney of Osceola; nieces and nephews, David, Daniel, Libby, Connor, Maeci, Jalie, Randi, Bailey, Dalton, Dylan and Maddie; extended family and a host of friends.
