Homestead Assisted Living, formerly West View Assisted Living, of Osceola has a new administrator – Michelle Jameson of Greenfield.
Jameson worked in healthcare for more than 12 years. She started her career at Creston Nursing and Rehab Center as a certified nurses aide and certified restorative aide through Care Initiatives. While at Creston Nursing, she also served as the activity director for seven years.
As Care Initiatives expanded its services, she accepted a job as a marketer for Hospice, based out of Greenfield, and traveled across southwest Iowa three years.
“While I was out marketing, I was approached about this job,” she said.
Before entering the healthcare field, Jameson stayed at home with her two sons until they entered school.
Jameson resides in Greenfield with her husband Dan. The couple have two children Trevor and Travis.
Jameson said, caring for the elderly had always been a passion of hers.
“You learn so much from them,” she said. “It’s just been a nature of mine to take care of people.”
Moving forward
Jameson said one of her priorities as the new administrator will be continuing to grow the census. The facility has the capacity to house 37 residents. Currently there are 20.
Jameson’s other goal includes raising awareness about the assisted-living facility in the community.
“They often confuse us with the nursing home,” she said.
The facility is open to tours. Community members can also join the residents for coffee and rolls on Thursday mornings beginning at 8 a.m. Meals are $5 and are also open to the community. Opening the facility has been an opportunity to not only get to learn more about the facility, but the residents as well.
“That’s something the residents really enjoy,” she said.
