Robert Chipp Sr.

Robert Francis Chipp Sr. was born Dec. 6, 1928, in Clarke County, to Thomas and Emma Chipp. Robert went to be with the Lord on April 12, 2009, at the Lucas County Health Center at the age of 80 years.

Robert was united in marriage Jan. 7, 1950, to Norma Jeanne Bishop. To this union five children were born: Robert, Jr., Debra, Pamela, Julie, and Angela. Robert cherished time spent with family and friends. He spent his lifetime farming, operating a dozer, and restoring John Deere tractors.

Robert was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Emma Chipp; his brothers, Norman, Urman, Lowell, and Lewis; his sisters, Margaret and Maxine.

He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Norma Jeanne; five children, Robert (Mary) Chipp, Jr. of Chariton, Debra (Jim) Andersen, Pamela (Fred) Housman of Des Moines, Julie (Scott) Schultz of O’Fallon, Mo., and Angela (Steve) Black of Chariton, Iowa; 16 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, and a host of friends.

Services were held April 14, 2009, at Fielding Funeral Home in Chariton, with Pastor Eric Hann and Pastor Allen Wiese officiating.

Interment was held in the Rose Hill Cemetery in Lucas, Iowa following services. Pallbearers were Robbie Chipp, Gary Chipp, Greg Chipp, Justin Andersen, Wucely Andersen, Alex Schultz, Nick Allen and Joey Allen. Honorary pallbearers were his granddaughters, Amiee Smith, Sarah Dory, Ashli Mullen, Elizabeth Chipp, Savannah Schultz and Adrian Black.

Memorials may be made to the Lucas County Fire Department or Circle of Life Hospice.
