Murray basketball week of Dec. 2, 2024

Murray 58, Lamoni 56

MURRAY – Murray boys won their first game of the season, at home on Dec. 3 over the Lamoni Demons. Austin Peterson led the team with 17 points, followed by Caden Page with 12, Jacob Keller with 11, Daniel Gard with 10, AJ Clarke with six and Nathaniel Rowe with two. The Mustangs went six for nine at the free throw line, and had two of 11 successful three-point shots. They had a total of 32 rebounds - 12 offensive and 20 defensive, 24 assists, 13 steals and one block; there were 19 total team fouls and 14 turnovers.

Murray 48, Lamoni 46

MURRAY – The Murray girls opened their season with a win at home over Lamoni on Dec. 3. Maliya Berry and Leah Frederick had the most points with 12 each, with Keirsten Klein with 10, Karina Romero with nine, Mallory Page with four and Aylah Miller with one. Berry had three, three-point shots and Frederick had one. The team had 34 total rebounds - six offensive and 28 defensive, eight assists, 13 steals, one block, 25 turnovers and 20 team fouls.

Bedford 50, Murray 39

MURRAY – At home on Dec. 5, the Lady Mustangs fell to the Lady Bulldogs 50-39. High scorer was Berry with 14 points. Page, Klein and Romero added six each, with four from Frederick and three from Miller. The team had 31 rebounds - six offensive and 25 defensive, four assists, 10 steals, five blocks, 17 turnovers and 14 fouls.

Bedford 67, Murray 30

MURRAY – The Bedford Bulldogs pulled away early in the first half of last Thursdays game, allowing few baskets to be made by the Mustangs. Rowe had the high game points of 11, with Peterson picking up eight, Page four, Keaton Brammer three and Keller and Gard with two. Rowe, Page and Brammer each had one three-point shot. Total rebounds for the boys were 24, with six offensive and 18 defensive, plus 11 assists, four steals, one block, 26 turnovers and 15 fouls.

Murray 42, Mormon Trail 28

GARDEN GROVE – Murray girls ended their week with another win, to bring their record to 2-1 over the Mormon Trail Saints Friday, with an early lead to keep them on top of the competition. Berry had 15 points in the game, followed by Frederick with 12, Klein six, Page five, and two apiece from Miller and Addie Eckels. Berry totaled two, three-point shots and Page one.
