Clarke senior Audrey Pontier has signed with Graceland University in Lamoni to run cross country for the Yellowjackets.
Pontier said that she is “excited to be able to run in college,” and while she wasn’t initially planning on doing so, she’s happy that the opportunity came about.
When it comes to her like of the sport, Pontier said she enjoys running, as well as the team environment.
“When you’re running that much…[you’re] spending a lot of time together in practice and meets,” said Pontier.
In addition to cross country, Pontier is also on the track team at Clarke. She runs as much as she can in between the two seasons, and said that Coach Thomas Kedley’s Renegade Running Club has been really beneficial in keeping active and in running form.
“It’s a sincere honor to be able to coach [Audrey]; it’s great for the #OneTribe family to continue on their legacy,” said Coach Kedley of Pontier’s recruitment.
At Graceland, Pontier will major in biology and plans to work at a fish hatchery after completing her degree.
