Mustangs hit back after loss last week

After a 35-0 loss the week prior to East Union, the Murray Mustangs came back and took down the Seymour Warriors 36-6 on Sept. 2 at home.

The Mustangs scored 14 in the first quarter, six in the second, seven in the third, and nine in the fourth to the Warriors’ six points in the fourth quarter.

Quarterback Caden Page had a 53.3% passing completion percentage with 107 passing yards with two passing touchdowns. Zack Belden had the most receiving yards with 63, followed by Gauge Mongar’s 34 and Kace Patton’s 10. The Mustangs totaled 205 rushing yards with Kendrick Mastin having the most rushing attempts at 13.

On defense, a total of 50 tackles were made against the Warriors, who had 35.5 on the Mustangs. Mongar had the most solo tackles at eight and Belden had the next highest at five. Jared Frederick saw two sacks and Titus Barber had one.

The Mustangs, 2-1, travel to Lamoni (0-2) Friday, Sept. 9.
