No citations were issued following an accident in the parking lot of Clarke Community High School, 800 North Jackson Street, on Aug. 15.
According to an Osceola police report, the driver of a 2003 Jeep Liberty was pulling into a parking spot when her foot slipped onto the gas pedal. Her vehicle jumped the curb and ran into an unoccupied bench. There were no injuries to the driver.
Damage is estimated at $0 to the 2003 Jeep, and $1,000 to the bench owned by Clarke Community Schools.

No citations were issued following an accident on Aug. 17 on the southbound Interstate 35 off ramp to Highway 34 east.
According to an Osceola police report, Michael Jones of Albia was stopped at the stop sign in a 2023 Toyota Venza. He started to turn east onto Highway 34 when a car in front of his did a U-turn, causing him to stop. A 2020 Chevrolet Silverado driven by Conrad Elmore of Chariton was behind Jones, and did not realize that Jones had not continued on, running into the rear of Jones’ vehicle. Jones had considerable, but drivable, damage to the rear of his vehicle, and Elmore had considerable, but drivable, damage tot eh front end of his vehicle.
Damage is estimated at $3,000 to the 2023 Toyota and $4,000 to the 2020 Chevrolet.
