March 16 accident reports

No citations were issued following a hit and run in the Pilot Travel Center parking lot, 2010 West Clay Street, on Mar. 9.

According to an Osceola Police report, Larry Brown of Lake Village, Arkansas, was parked at Pilot in a 2018 International semi when an employee told Brown that he had parked incorrectly and needed to move. Brown pulled out of the parking spot and left Pilot, headed south on Interstate 35, pulling off at the rest area on southbound Interstate 35 to spend the night.

Officers were able to locate Brown at the rest stop, where he informed them he was unaware of having hit the another vehicle.

At Pilot, the driver of a 2019 Kenworth semi told officers that he had been in his sleeping compartment when he felt the truck rock. He noticed that Brown had struck the driver side of his vehicle causing damage to the mirror, front fender and a bend in the grill guard. Both the driver and a Pilot employee attempted to run after Brown, but lost him as he turned onto Interstate 35.

Damage is estimated at $500 to the 2018 International and $5,000 to the 2019 Kenworth.

No citations were issued following an accident on Mar. 11 at the intersection of Furnas and Jeffreys Drives.

According to an Osceola Police report, Jack Scrivner of Leon was sitting at the stop sign on Furnas Drive in a 2010 Nissan Maxima waiting for traffic. A 2017 Ford Escape driven by Noah Black of New Virginia pulled up behind Scrivner and tried to stop, but slid due to the snow, colliding with Scrivner. Scrivner’s vehicle had rear bumper damage and Black’s front bumper had damage. No injuries were reported.

Damage is estimated at $1,000 to the 2010 Nissan and $1,000 to the 2017 Ford.
