Feb. 23 accident reports

No citations were issued following a traffic accident on Feb. 17 on Highway 34 east.

According to a Clarke County Sheriff’s report, Chandra Eckels of Murray was driving a 2006 GMC Sierra east on Highway 34 when she lost control of her vehicle due to the ice-covered road. Eckels’ vehicle spun around on the ice, and the rear of her vehicle hit the rear driver side of a 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee driven by Cody Locke of Woodburn who was headed west at the time of the accident.

Damage is estimated at $2,000 to the 2005 GMC and $1,000 to the 2004 Jeep.

Vickie Brown, Woodburn, was traveling west on Highway 34 in a 2009 Toyota Camry when in the 3000 block a deer entered the roadway. Brown was unable to avoid the deer in a safe manner, resulting in front right damage to her vehicle.

Damage is estimated at $2,000 to the 2009 Toyota.

No citations were issued following a hit and run on Feb. 15 in the parking lot of Casey’s General Store, 1706 Jeffreys Drive.

According to an Osceola police report, a legally parked 2002 Ford F350 was legally parked when it was hit by an unknown unit. The unknown unit had reportedly pulled around the parked Ford, when the unit’s trailer wiped the front right corner.

Damage is estimated at $3,000 to the 2002 Ford. No information is known on the other vehicle.

No citations were issued following a traffic accident on Feb. 17 at the intersection of McLane and Main Streets.

According to an Osceola police report, a 2021 Ford F550 Super Duty utility truck was parked on the south side of East McLane/Highway 34 performing maintenance to the traffic lights; traffic cones were set up around the vehicle. Richard Hughes, Weldon, was attempting to turn a 2001 Freightliner tractor trailer east onto McLane from the southbound lane of Main Street when the trailer of the Freightliner collided with the rear bumper area of the Ford.

Damage is estimated at $1,500 to the 2021 Ford and $250 to the 2001 Freightliner.
