August 4 accident reports

No citations were issued following an accident on July 25.

According to an Osceola Police report, Joshua Crouch of Osceola, driving a 2020 Ford F150, and David Johannes of Osceola, driving a 2012 Chevrolet Impala, were traveling west on Highway34/McLane Street. Both vehicles were side by side as they approached the intersection of Highway34/McLane Street and Warren Avenue; the traffic light showed a green light.

Lawrence Hewlett of Grand River, driving a 2018 Toyota Tacoma, was traveling east on Highway34/McLane Street when he entered the turn lane to go north onto Warren Avenue. Both Crouch and Johannes collided with the passenger side of Hewlett’s vehicle. Hewlett told officers that he had a green light or maybe a green arrow; Hewlett was advised that a green arrow was not possible if both Crouch and Johannes said they had a green light.

No injuries were reported at the scene.

Damage is estimated at $4,500 to the 2020 Ford, $1,500 to the 2012 Chevrolet, and $4,500 to the 2018 Toyota.

Zander Reed of Davis City was cited for failure to maintain control causing an accident following an incident on Highway 34 east on August 1.

According to an Osceola Police report, Reed, driving a 2007 Ford Focus, was traveling west on Highway 34 when around Adams Street began veering to the left and crossed the center lane into eastbound traffic. Kevin Bonham of Prairie City, driving a 2022 International semi, saw Reed’s vehicle come into his lane. Bonham attempted to get over as far as he could, but was unable to avoid a collision as Reed drove into the front of the semi. Reed admitted to police that he fell asleep at the wheel.

Damage is estimated at $3,000 to the 2007 Ford, and $5,000 to the 2022 International.
