Berton Morey of Seguin, Texas, was cited with failure to provide proof of financial liability following an accident on July 4.
According to an Osceola police report, Morey, driving a 2004 Ford F350 eastbound on Highway 34 when a white SUV traveling westbound turned in front of Morey to access Southwest Boulevard. Morey attempted to swerve to avoid a crash, and went into the ditch in front of BP Travel Plaza. The front bumper was bent into the radiator, both airbags were deployed, the windshield was cracked and the frame appeared to be shifted to the driver’s side, as observed by officers when the vehicle was towed out. Morey refused treatment from the ambulance.
After checking the cameras at BP, it was determined that no contact was made between the two vehicles, and the damage to the 2004 Ford was due to hitting the embankment.
Damage is estimated at $7,000 to the 2004 Ford.

Mark Cabrera of Murray was charged with failure to provide proof of financial liability and use of an electronic communication device following an accident on July 4.
Cabrera, driving a 2003 Chevrolet Monte Carlo, was traveling east on Highway 34 behind Meredith Howell of Lamoni, who was driving a 2019 Ford Escape, when Cabrera ran into the back of Howell’s vehicle.
No injuries were reported. Damage is estimated at $3,500 to the 2003 Chevrolet and $500 to the 2019 Ford.
