June 30 accident reports

A hit and run report was filed following an incident at the Friendly Acres Mobile Home Park on June 25.

According to an Osceola Police report, the owner of a 2005 Nissan 350Z Roadster reported that their car was parked in the mobile home park at approximately 6:30 in the morning. When the owner went to leave, they noticed that their car had been hit on the front driver side corner. The owner stated this is the third time a vehicle parked in this spot has been hit, and that they believed the occupants of trailer number 29 to have been doing it. Officer Earnest Pettit looked at the vehicle parked at number 29 but was unable to make a positive determination if it was the vehicle involved.

Damage is estimated at $2,000 to the 2005 Nissan.

No citations were issued following an accident in the 800 block of West McLane on June 21.

According to an Osceola Police report, both Paul Simpson of Davis City driving a 2010 Dodge Journey and Jesse Bailey of Osceola driving a 2015 Chevrolet Traverse, were traveling west on McLane Street when Simpson slowed to turn right into Clarke County Tire. Bailey had looked back to hand something to one of her children, and was unable to slow down or move out of the way when she looked back to the road. As a result, Bailey collided with the rear of Simpson’s vehicle. Simpson’s vehicle contained two occupants and Bailey’s had four or five.

No injuries were reported at the scene, though officers were later advised that one child from Bailey’s vehicle went to the ER and was found to have a minor contusion on the head.

Damage was estimated at $3,500 to the 2010 Dodge and $5,000 to the 2015 Chevrolet.

No citations were issued after an accident on June 17 in the McDonald’s parking lot.

According to an Osceola Police report, Damien Islas of Osceola was attempting to park a 2003 Buick LeSabre when he hit mirrors with a legally parked 2013 Ford Fusion. When Islas attempted to back out and correct his parking, he then ran into the side of the Ford, causing damage to the passenger front and rear doors.

Damage is estimated at $500 to the 2003 Buick and $1,500 to the 2013 Ford.
