Paul Sanders obituary

Osceola

Paul Everett Sanders, 92 of Osceola, Iowa, passed away on Sunday, July 24th, 2022 at Southern Hills Specialty Care with his daughter by his side.

Paul was born August 3rd, 1929 in Osceola, Iowa to Clinton & Grace Sanders. He was the youngest of seven. Paul was united in marriage to Wilene Sanders on May 15th, 1948. They were blessed with two children, Randy & Renae.

Paul began working for his brother in law, Tom Barr, at age 13 after finishing 8th grade country school in 1942. He was drafted and served in the Marine Corp from 1952-1954 at Camp Pendleton in California. Upon his return, Paul & Tom became partners in 1965. Paul eventually bought the business from Tom and it became Sanders Construction, an excavation company.

In 1985, Paul and Wilene moved to California where he was in charge of maintenance at an apartment complex for over five years before returning to Osceola. Paul was extremely handy and could build or fix anything, which he continued throughout his whole life.

Paul loved his family so much and enjoyed making sure they were all taken care of. He never missed a day of being by Wilene’s side during her time at Southern Hills. His granddaughters and great grandkids were so special to him. He always looked forward to his great grandkids’ visits and enjoyed them sitting on his lap and going for rides on his walker.

Paul always had a smile and a great sense of humor. He never met a stranger, and all who met him loved him. He would do anything for anyone. If you ever asked him how he was he would say “chugging along”, or in recent years it was always “that’s debatable”.

Paul leaves to cherish his memory, son Randy (Christina) Sanders of Billingham, WA, daughter Renae (Doug) Cosgrove of Des Moines, IA, granddaughter Tara (Ben) Schooley of Chariton, IA, Brittany (Elijah) Horton of Chariton, IA, and Briana McKinnis of Billingham, WA. Great grandchildren Kane, Kinsley, & Blakely Schooley, and Easton & Sutton Horton. Along with many nieces and nephews.
