Roberta White

Thelma Roberta (Carson) White, daughter of Olin Carson and Lena Powell Carson was born on March 25, 1923. She passed from this life on January 14, 2022 at the Clarke County Hospital at the age 98.

Roberta was a lifetime resident of the Osceola area and attended Clarke County rural schools.

Roberta married Ernest Russell White on August 30, 1941 in Bethany, Missouri and four children, Pam, Dennis, Steve and Chris, blessed this union.

After marrying Ernie, Roberta cooked in a cafe in Des Moines during the war. After the war Ernie and Roberta ran a restaurant for a short time and farmed until the late 1950′s. The family moved to an Osceola acreage and Roberta worked part time as house keeper for several families in Osceola until her retirement in 1991. She was a Charter Member of Fraternal Order of the Eagles Lodge Aerie #3495 in Osceola, Iowa. Roberta enjoyed baking, loved dancing, laughing, yodeling, singing and spending time with her children and grandchildren. She was known for her ginger snap cookies and apple pie. She was especially proud of  all of her grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren and enjoyed sending cards to the little ones.

Roberta was preceded in death by her husband Ernest of almost 59 years and sisters, Leveda Fitch, Shirley Wilson and, Claudia Kettle and brothers; James Carson, Bill Carson, Gene Carson and Buck Carson

She leaves to cherish her memory: Daughter, Pam Herndon and husband Edwin of Woodburn, Iowa; son, Dennis White and wife Martha of Osceola, Iowa; son, Steve White and wife Vickie of Osceola, Iowa; daughter, Chris Simmerman and husband Steve of Osceola, Iowa; 18 grandchildren; Mark Herndon of Woodburn, IA, Robin Herndon of Tama, Iowa, Lynne Heidbreder and Husband Charles of Mount Pleasant, Iowa, Rick White and wife Mellissa of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Kim Darrah and husband Chad of Indianola, Iowa, Jeannette Cooley and husband Joe of Indianola, Iowa, Mindi Ebert of Nashville, TN, Janice Updike and husband Kevin of Osceola, Iowa, Michael White and wife Dena of Osceola, Iowa, Denise Brokaw and husband Matt of Osceola, Iowa, Tammy Grooms of Osceola, Iowa, Donnie White and wife Lori of Indianola, Iowa, Kadin White and wife Krista of Polk City, Iowa, Iowa, Shelly Lynch and husband Tom of Ames, Iowa, Lance Sponsler of Marshalltown, Michelle Dillon and husband Tom of Des Moines, Iowa, Hollie Jackson and Husband Steve of Kellogg, Iowa, Eric Simmerman and wife Justine of West Des Moines, Iowa; 46 great grandchildren and 10 great great grandchildren, sister, Leanna Phillips, brother in-law Jerald White and sister in-laws; Pat Carson, Karon White and Amy White as well as other relatives and a host of friends.

Services will be held at Kale Funeral Home, Wednesday January 19, 2022 at 11 a.m. with Pastor Chuck DeVos officiating.

Family will greet friends from 10-11 a.m. Wednesday, prior to the funeral.

Interment will be in the Maple Hill Cemetery
