Katie Morgan

Osceola

Marna Kay (Katie) Kerr Morgan, daughter of Gordon and Theresa (Rowland) Kerr, was born on July 3, 1937, and passed away on November 6, 2021 at 84 years old.

Katie went to rural school through 8th grade and graduated from Osceola High School in 1955. She completed Thompsons School of Cosmetology in Des Moines in 1956, and opened her own beauty shop in Osceola shortly after. She married her high school sweetheart, Charlie Morgan, in July 1957 at the Methodist Church in Osceola, and had 4 kids shortly after: twins Jill and Jan, JP, and Joni.

Katie was the Secretary and Treasurer of their family business, Morgan and Son Sanitation, for 43 years. She served on several boards and committees for over 35 years: she served as Advisory Board Member at American State Bank, Memorial and Trustee Board of the Methodist Church, a member of the Jane Houston Memorial Fund, a member of the Clarke County Housing Board, and Clarke County Foundation. Katie also was a Charter Torch Bearer Member of Beta Sigma Phi for over 50 years.

Katie loved watching football and basketball, but her favorite team to watch was always the Iowa State Cyclones. Katie spent many years with her gal friends having coffee and taking day trips to shop or weeks to the Ozarks. However, Katie’s greatest love was her family: Katie was a loving and caring wife, mother, and grandmother. Katie was her grandkid’s number one supporter as she attended as many sporting events and choir concerts as she could. She will be missed dearly by her family and friends.

To cherish her memory, she leaves husband, Charlie, daughters, Jill and Jan, son, JP (Kassy), and daughter, Joni (Chris). Grandchildren, Macey (Jake and step-great-grandson Jett), Delaney (David), James, Emma (Aaron), Claire and Charlie. Those preceding her in death were her parents, her brother Jim, her mother-in-law, grandparents, and many aunts and uncles.

Services will be held at Kale Funeral Home in Osceola, Saturday November 13, 2021 at 11 a.m.

Her family will greet friends from 9:30-11 a.m. Saturday, November 13, 2021 at Kale Funeral Home.

Interment will be in the Maple Hill Cemetery.
