Dwan Anise Franks, age 72, lost her life to the Covid-19 virus on Feb. 9, 2021, in Harker Heights, Texas. She was born September 1, 1948, the daughter of Stanley Shaffer and Geraldine Young-Shaffer of Osceola, Iowa.
Dwan earned a CIS Degree from Regis College in Denver, Colorado and worked as a software engineer until her retirement in 2016. Besides church attendance, she was involved with Bible Study Fellowship for more than 20 years.
Dwan was a people person who enjoyed visiting with everyone. She loved traveling and was a devoted grandmother. She also was a card player who was very competitive.
She is survived by husband, Roy “Butch” Franks of Killeen, Texas; son, James Franks and wife, Beth of Sugarland, Texas; daughter, Dara Repass and husband, Joe of Killeen, Texas; sister, Janna Stubbs of Des Moines, Iowa; brother, Bret Shaffer of Osceola, Iowa; sisters-in-law, Ann Welker and Maryln Fleming; four grandsons and two granddaughters; and three great grand daughters.
A graveside memorial service will be held at the Maple Hill Cemetery, Osceola, Iowa at 2 p.m. Monday, July 12, 2021, with Steve Hill officiating. Burial will be in the Maple Hill Cemetery. Slade –O’Donnell Funeral Home was in charge of the service.
