Alice Davis

Osceola

Alice Davis was born June 20, 1944 in Osceola, Iowa to Gilbert and Edna (Williams) Kearney and passed from this life on May 24, 2021 at the Clarke County Hospital.

Alice grew up on a small farm north of Osceola. She was the 7th of 8 children. She received her education at the Fremont country school through 8th grade. She went on to graduate from Clarke High School with the class of 1962. As a youth, she attended the Calvary Baptist Church where she was baptized into Christ.

She was united in marriage to Melvin Davis on August 25, 1962. Three children were born to this union: Melanie, Leon and Lane.

When her children got older, Alice received training in jewelry making. She worked at Gold Art in Urbandale, Iowa for several years making and repairing jewelry. Alice also assisted Melvin in operating their convenience store, The Whistle Stop, in Lorimor, Iowa until they sold the store.

Alice was preceded in death by her parents, Gilbert and Edna Kearney; son Leon Davis; sisters Lorraine Jensen, Lorna Jones, Marion Maloney, Coleen Roush; brothers Richard Kearney and Roger Kearney; and brother-in-law Larry Davis.

Alice is survived by her husband Melvin; two children, daughter Melanie (Ted) Halls of Murray and son Lane (Kristi) Davis of Murray; sister Dowell Kearney of Portland, Oregon; brother-in-law Donald (Celia) Davis of Kansas; six grandchildren: Tara (Cole) Page of Murray, Justin (Paige) Halls of Murray, Jessica (Ben) Heath of Murray, Austin Halls (fiancée Courtney Bruns) of Walcott, Iowa, Kris Davis of Murray and Jordan Davis of Murray; seven great-grandchildren: Caden, Mallory and Caleb Page; Tate and Teigen Halls; Hudson and Isaac Heath, as well as a host of nieces and nephews.

There will be no service for Alice at this time.
