Ellie McDole of Murray is a seven-year-old on a mission, and that mission is to help raise funds for restrooms and a concession stand at the Murray Rec Complex by way of lemonade and cookies.
When Ellie said she wanted to have a lemonade stand, her grandmother, Diana Moffitt-Robins, asked why. Ellie said that she wanted to raise money for herself, and Moffitt-Robins encouraged her to think of something else to do with the earnings. As a soccer player who utilizes the kybos at the Rec Complex, modern restrooms seemed like a good idea, and a goal was formed.
Originally, Ellie’s goal was to raise $200. After two successful sales in Murray, she set up a stand on Monday, July 18 at Southern Hills Specialty Care Center in Osceola with a new goal of $500. At the end of the day, Ellie, along with Mya McDole, Gracie Mongar and Emma Sorter presented the City of Murray with an $808 donation towards the Murray Rec Complex.
A new goal of $2,000 has been set. More fundraisers are planned, with possible appearances at the Murray Jamboree and soccer games this fall.
