City, school board petitions filing open

Multiple seats in multiple Clarke County towns and school districts will be on the Nov. 2 ballot.

Last week began the time to file nomination papers with the designated city clerk for those positions.

It was also the time to begin filing nomination papers with the secretary of the school board and/or community college board secretary.

The deadline to file is 5 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 16.

All city clerks and school board secretaries are to have all nomination papers to the auditor’s office by noon, Friday Sept. 17. Public measure deadline is noon, Sept. 17 this apples to cities, school and community colleges.

The following seats are on the ballot:

Osceola City Council: Ward 2- one position, At Large- one position, Mayor

Clarke School Board: District 2, District 3, At Large- one position

Murray City Council: two positions

Murray School Board: At Large- two positions

Woodburn City Council: Mayor, At Large- three positions,

Southwestern Community College board: District 1 (Greenfield), District 6 (Diagonal), District 3 (Osceola), District 5 (Red Oak).

Seats filed: Woodburn City Council- Gary Parson, Osceola City Council Ward 2- Dan Hooper, Osceola Mayor- Thomas Kedley
