Clarke County Supervisors approve new treasurer employee

Clarke County Treasurer Jessica Smith presented her pick for a new courthouse employee at the Clarke County Supervisors Monday meeting. Katie Swensen, of Murray, will begin July 26 as a Motor Vehicle Clerk.

“She has lots of office skills... she was an office manager and has lots of phone experice and her personality is just great so I’m really excited about her,” said Smith. “She will start at $38,000 and after three months she’ll get $1,000 and in another three month she’ll get another $1,000 so within six months she’ll be at $40,000.”

Supervisor Austin Taylor voted no to the hire due to his concern over the pay being too high.

Supervisors Dean Robins and Larry Keller voted yes. The vote passed and Swensen will begin Monday July 26.
