CLARKE COUNTY – The Iowa State Patrol has confirmed two people are dead after a train hit a vehicle at about 4:30 p.m. Thursday near Murray.
A Chevy Silverado pickup truck was traveling east on a level B road near Kendall Street and 160th Avenue in Clarke County when it was struck by a BNSF freight train east of Murray.
Authorities confirmed four juveniles were in the vehicle. The driver of the vehicle and another passenger were transported via air ambulance to a hospital where they were being treated for life-threatening injuries.
The BNSF stated the crossing had gate arms, flashing lights and warning bells. None of its employees were injured.
The incident is still under investigation.
