Council approves vacation of multiple alleys, sewer truck

The second reading of the ordinance amendment of Chapter 167 pertaining to signs passed. The motion to wave the third reading failed.

Alley Vacations

A public hearing was opened regarding the vacation of the west half of the east/west alley in block 14 of West Osceola. The Planning and Zoning Committee recommended the approval of the vacation. The Council approved the vacation of the alley and waved the second and third readings.

A public hearing was opened regarding the vacation of the alley in block 7 of the Gustin Addition. After the approval of the Gustin Villa Apartments on Gustin Street at the last Council meeting the Planning and Zoning Committee called for a public hearing to vacate the north/south and east/west alleys in that block as they are now privately owned and construction has begun in the area. The Council approved the vacation of the allies and waved the second and third readings.

The Council then voted to refer the petition to vacate the east/west alley in block 7 of Northeast Osceola to the Planning and Zoning Committee. The alley is undeveloped in the middle of the block.

The Council heard a staff recommendation to vacate all east/west alleys in block 1 of South Osceola. The alleys are all undeveloped. City Administrator Ty Wheeler recommended Council refer the vacation to Planning and Zoning, which they did.

Sewer Jet/Vac Truck

The Council voted to proceed with the USDA grant funded acquisition of of a sewer jet/vac truck.

Water Main Project

The Council approved the contract and bond for the 2021 Water Main Project.
