Area volleyball roundup: Murray gets its groove, CD struggles with POI competition

GREENFIELD – Central Decatur (3-15) fell to Nodaway Valley (19-4) 3-0 Tuesday, Sept. 29.

The Cardinals fell 25-17, 25-20 and 25-15 in three sets.

Malloree Horn recorded 10 digs and five kills to lead the team. Hallee Hamilton had three blocks.

Murray 2, Seymour 0

MELCHER – Murray won 2-0 Tuesday, Sept. 29, winning 2-0 at the Melcher-Dallas triangular.

It was smooth sailing for Murray, winning both sets 25-15 and 25-10.

Kinzee Eggers and Teryn Shields each had four kills, both team-high. Jayda Chew had 12 assists.

Twila Barber led in aces with five. Murray was 42 of 44 from serve.

Melcher-Dallas 2, Murray 1

MELCHER – Murray fell to Melcher-Dallas 2-1 Tuesday, Sept. 29, splitting the triangular for the Lady Mustangs.

Melcher-Dallas won the first set 25-20, dropped the second set 25-18, then won the third set 15-12 over Murray.

Barber had seven kills and Chew had 14 assists, both a team-high.

Church had two blocks while Barber had seven digs.
