Area football roundup: Murray victorious, CD continues skid

LAMONI – Murray (2-2) lost in a shootout to Lamoni Friday night, falling 32-30.

Entering halftime, the Mustangs had a 12-6 lead before Lamoni scored on the opening drive of the second half.

A successful two-point conversion made it 14-12, and a Javin Evans interception in the end zone went for 76-yards to give Lamoni a 20-12 lead with 3:22 left in the third quarter.

Zack Belden found Colton Siefkas for a score to cut the difference to 20-18, and a blocked punt by Murray from Brycen Wookey ended in a touchdown to give the Mustangs a 24-20 lead.

A touchdown by Lamoni with 5:36 left on the clock and an insurance score at 2:10 was enough to give the Demons a 32-24 lead. Murray scored with 46 seconds left, but a stopped two-point conversion ended the game for Murray at 32-30.

The Mustangs were led by Belden’s 106 yards rushing and 169 yards passing. He had four all-purpose touchdowns.

Siefkas had 97 yards receiving and a score on seven catches.

Chance Lecy led in tackles with nine, six being solo tackles.

Pleasantville 48, Central
Decatur 6

PLEASANTVILLE – Central Decatur fell to Pleasantville Friday night, losing its third straight game. The Cards lost 48-6, falling to 1-3 while Pleasantville improved to 4-0.

The Trojans scored 35 points in the second quarter, taking a 41-6 lead into halftime. With the running clock turned on, the Trojans each scored once in the second half.

CD scored on a Devin Adams rushing touchdown. He ran for 37 yards, a team-high.

Matthew Boothe passed for 230 yards with two interceptions. Hayden Leymaster had 121 yards receiving on seven catches to lead CD. On defense, Tegan Carson led the team with 5 1/2 tackles and one sack.

Jack Scrivner and Tyke Hullinger had a fumble recovery and an interception, respectively.
