Daina Estell

Daina Marie Estell, daughter of Dennis Morris and Frances (Utley) Voschelle was born April 9, 1964 in Osceola, Iowa and passed away Saturday, August 29, 2020 at Greater Regional Hospice Home in Creston, Iowa at 56 years old.

Daina received her education in Osceola, IA where she attended Clarke Community High School.

She married David Daeges in 1981 and later divorced. She was united in marriage to Todd Lane Estell on December 18, 1988 in Osceola, Iowa.  Following Todd’s passing in 2007, Daina and David reunited and have been longtime companions since then. Daina’s working career mirrored her personal trait of always helping others and being a caregiver to those who needed help. She first worked as a waitress and cook and later provided in-home daycare for over ten years. In recent years, Daina provided in-home respite care for adults, until her cancer diagnosis in November 2019.

Daina was a strong, independent woman. She had an infectious laugh and loved her family. She was also an avid eBayer and loved to visit any thrift store or Goodwill looking for treasures. Her children remember her as a great cook, and they loved her corn mush, potato salad, and cherry cheesecake. In her spare time, Daina enjoyed spending time with her grandkids, camping, fishing, hunting mushrooms, and planting flowers. Following her diagnosis of multiple sclerosis in March 2015 and her later diagnosis of small cell lung cancer, Daina became very involved in support groups for both illnesses.

Those relatives who preceded Daina in death were her father, Dennis Morris; husband, Todd Lane Estell; grandparents, Mable and Elmer Utley; grandparents, Orville and Mary Morris; brother-in-law, Donald Wayne Ruth; mother and father-in-law, Norma Irene and Phil Estell; step-father, Jim Long.

Daina is survived by, mother, Frances Joan Voschelle; longtime companion, David Daeges of Creston, IA; children, Davy (Krystal) Estell of Creston, IA, Tara (Landon) Hedrick of Galloway, OH, Chelsey (Austin) Eblen of Creston, IA, Briann Estell (Isaiah Foster) of Creston, IA, and Jacob Daeges of Creston, IA.  Also surviving are her sisters, Denise (Gene) Morris of Clarence, IA and Dwaun (Karl) Ruth of Lorimor, IA; step-sister, Shanda (Michael) Hiatt of Osceola, IA; grandchildren, Emma Estell and Evan Estell as well as many other relatives and friends.

Memorial services will be held at Kale Funeral Home in Osceola, on Saturday, September 12, 2020 at 10:30 am with son-in-law, Landon Hedrick officiating.

The family and funeral home asks that anyone in attendance at the memorial service please follow social distancing guidelines. The use of face coverings are required. If you are unable to attend the service in person, a live stream will be available at www.kalefuneralhome.com on Daina's tribute wall beginning at 10:30 am, Saturday.

Interment will be in the Maple Hill Cemetery.
