Area volleyball roundup: Cards drop two to open season

Mount Ayr 2, Central
Decatur 1

MOUNT AYR – Central Decatur (2-2) fell to Mount Ayr (1-1) 2-1 at Thursday’s triangular in Mount Ayr.

The Cardinals dropped the first set 25-10, won the second 25-21 and lost 15-10 in set three.

Lyndsey Dale had two kills while Carlee Hamilton had eight digs and Addiston Graham had six. Graham also was 8-for-8 on serves with two aces.

Bedford 2, Central
Decatur 0

MOUNT AYR – Central Decatur lost 2-0 to Bedford at Mount Ayr’s triangular Thursday.

Bedford rolled through Central Decatur, taking set one 25-15 and set two 25-16.

Mara Dykes had all nine assists for the Cardinals. River Hamaker had four kills to lead the team. Hallee Hamilton record three aces on 10 successful attempts.

Clarke 3, Des Moines North 1

DES MOINES – Clarke (1-0) knocked off Des Moines North (0-1) 3-1 to open the season Thursday.

Clarke took the first set 25-15 before the Polar Bears responded with a 25-22 set two win. The Lady Indians rattled off back-to-back wins in the final two sets, winning 25-16 and 25-22.

Central
Decatur 2, Chariton 1

WAYNE – Central Decatur took down Chariton 2-1 at Wayne’s triangular Tuesday, August 25.

The Cardinals won the first set 25-20 while Chariton was able to force a third set after a 25-19 win. In the third set, Central Decatur edged out a 15-12 win to take the match.

Serving was efficient for the Cardinals, with 13 aces in the game. Malloree Horn record four while Hallee Hamilton and Mara Dykes had three each.

Decatur 3, Wayne 2

WAYNE – Central Decatur edged out a 3-2, five set win against Wayne at the Falcons’ season-opening triangular Tuesday.

Wayne rolled through Central Decatur in the first two sets, winning 25-8 and 25-7. The Cardinals responded with three-consecutive wins, taking 25-21, 25-19 and 15-11 wins.

Horn had 10 kills with Dykes recording 20 assists. Carlee Hamilton had 13 digs with Horn also putting up 11 of her own.
