Southeast Warren 53, Murray 20

MURRAY – Southeast Warren rolled through Murray 53-20 to start the season.

The Warhawks took a 12-0 lead before Murray responded with a 55-yard drive and touchdown run from Chance Lecy, cutting the lead to 12-6. Southeast Warren took a 20-6 lead in the second quarter on a 79-yard interception returned for a touchdown. The Warhawks added another touchdown on a fumble recovery to lead 27-6 at halftime.

Southeast Warren advanced the lead to 41 points before Lecy scored his second touchdown of the game for Murray, cutting the deficit to 41-14. The Warhawks and Mustangs each traded touchdowns, with Wyatt Gannon scoring for Murray to push the Mustangs to 20 points.

Lecy rushed for two touchdowns while Gannon ran for one touchdown.

Decatur 42, Wayne 6

LEON – Central Decatur dominated Wayne in the Cardinals’ season opener, beating the Falcons 42-6 Friday.

The Cardinals jumped out to an early 14-0 lead in the first quarter before adding two more scores in the second. Wayne put up its only points in the second quarter. The Cardinals added 14 points for the third-straight quarter before running out the clock in the fourth.

Matthew Boothe passed for 110 yards and one touchdown on five completions. Devin Adams had 81 yards rushing and one touchdown on seven carries. William Gillis recorded nine tackles, 2 1/2 for a loss.
