OST baseball roundup: CD and Clarke baseball has season come to close

VAN METER – Clarke’s season came to a close in the first round of the Class 2A Substate 6 quarterfinal with a 12-2 loss in five innings to Interstate 35.

The Roadrunners jumped out ahead 2-0 in the second before Clarke tied the game in the third. The game remained scoreless until a 10-run fifth inning for the Roadrunners.

Clarke stats were unavailable at time of press.

The Indians end 2020 with a 3-6 overall record and 0-6 in the South Central Conference.

Southeast Warren 14, Murray 4 (6)

LIBERTY CENTER – Murray fell to Southeast Warren 14-4 in six innings Saturday, July 11.

The Warhawks held a 2-0 lead after the first inning then scored seven in the bottom of the third, taking a 9-0 lead before the Mustangs put up four runs in the fourth inning. Southeast Warren added five more runs through the sixth and seventh innings.

Andrew Roe went 1-for-3 with a double and two RBIs. Brycen Wookey also had one hit and an RBI.

The Mustangs finish 2020 3-10 overall and 3-6 in the Bluegrass Conference.

CD 17, Moulton-Udell 2

LEON – Central Decatur wasted no time taking down Moulton-Udell 17-2 in four innings to start the Class 1A Substate 6 tournament.

Five runs in the first inning and eight runs in the second gave Central Decatur a 13-1 lead after two innings. Four runs in the fourth inning sealed the win.

Evertsen, Matthew Boothe, David Walker and Devin Adams each drove in two runs for the Cardinals. Boothe and Evertsen each had three hits.
