Mike Allen

Osceola

Michael Dennis Allen, son of Dennis Clayton Allen and Helen Catherine Saddoris Allen was born October 17, 1949 in Osceola, Iowa and passed from this life Thursday, June 18, 2020 at University of Nebraska Medical Center at 70 years of age.

Mike received his education in Osceola where he attended Clarke Community High School graduating in 1968 and later attended Iowa State University, earning a degree in Animal Science.

He was united in marriage to Gayle Anne Conroy on March 4, 1983 in Des Moines, Iowa and were the parents of Travis and Megan Hartman.

Mike worked at the Public Works Department as Street Superindentant  for City of Osceola for over thirty years, retiring in 2019.  

He was involved in 4-H, FFA and enjoyed his kids livestock projects.  Mike was very active with the Clarke County Fair and also enjoyed the Iowa State Fair. Other hobbies included camping, travel and spending time with grandchildren.

Those relatives who preceded Mike in death were his father, Dennis Clayton Allen and mother, Helen Catherine Allen.

Mike leaves to cherish his memory; wife, Gayle Allen of Osceola, IA, son, Travis (Monica) Hartman, daughter, Megan (Michael) Huff of Des Moines, IA; grandchildren, Hayley Hartman and Ava Hartman, Conor, Sally and Quinn Wilson, Brennan, Brianna and Blythe Huff, sister, Peggy Allen of Ankeny, IA; brother, David (Deanna) Allen of Osceola, IA; nephew, Clay Allen; niece, Alena Allen,  as well as other relatives and many friends.

Services for Mike will be held at Kale Funeral Home in Osceola, Thursday June 25, 2020 at 6:30 pm with Eddie Otto  officiating.

The family will greet friends from 4:30 pm to 6:00 pm Thursday, prior to the Memorial at Kale Funeral Home.

A private interment will be at Maple Hill Cemetery in Osceola.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been set up for the Clarke County Fairgrounds. Memorial contributions  may be left at Kale Funeral Home or American State Bank Memorial Fund.
