Tuesday’s Primary Elections resulted in 386 votes cast at the poll in Clarke County and 1,218 absentee ballots cast, with still 230 absentee ballots outstanding as of 10:30 p.m. Tuesday. Of the 3,829 voters registered to vote in the Primary Elections there were 1,591 total ballots. Of the total ballots in Clarke County 1,016 were Republican and 575 were Democratic.
In the Clarke County Supervisor race for District 1 Dean Robins won the Republican ticket with 465 votes, Ralph Stevens had 391 and John Carson had 129. Kathleen Johnson on the Democratic ticket received 417 votes. For District 2 Larry Keller won the Republican ticket with 496 votes while James Hume had 447. For District 3 Austin Taylor, on the Republican ticket received 742 votes and Marvin McCann on the Democratic ticket received 425 votes.
Janice White received County Auditor as a Democrat with 551 votes.
Rob Kovacevich received County Sheriff as a Democrat with 532 votes.
Joni Ernst revived 854 votes for U.S. Senator as a Republican and Theresa Greenfield won the Democratic ticket with 293 votes. Other Democrats Michael Franken had 117 votes, Kimberly Graham had 58, Eddie Mauro had 86 and Cal Woods had 6.
Mariannette Miller-Makes won the Republican ticket for U.S. Representative District 2 and Rita Hart received 508 votes for Representative District 2 as a Democrat. Other Republicans Tim Borchardt had 49 votes, Steven Everly had 72, Rick Phillips had 107, and Bobby Schilling had 274.
Amy Sinclair received 879 votes as a Republican for State Senator District 14.
Joel Fry received 845 votes to represent State District 27 on the Republican ticket and Cody Dilliner received 472 votes to represent State District 27 on the Democratic ticket.
