After the resignation of Zach Clark March 3, Central Decatur took little time in its search for a new boys basketball head coach as it hired internally.
The Cardinals formally announced last Thursday the hire of girls basketball coach Curtis Boothe as the new head boys basketball coach.
At the helm of the Cardinal girls program, Boothe has built a winning program over the last 18 seasons. He also coached the CAL boys in Latimer for three seasons.
The Cardinals have flourished under his leadership, leading CD to six IGHSAU state tournament appearances and ten Pride of Iowa Conference championships.
“His program is well known throughout the state of Iowa because of its consistent winning ways and postseason success,” said a release on the hire of Boothe. “He has led and positively influenced an entire generation of the Iowa girl.”
Boothe’s career record as a head coach is 392-101 (Central Decatur girls: 358-72; CAL boys: 34-29). CD finished 19-4 in the 2019-20 season, missing the state tournament for the first time in four years.
