Area boys basketball roundup: Cardinals need OT against Martensdale, I-35 struggles at Mount Ayr

Central Decatur 65, Clarke 36

LEON – Central Decatur beat Clarke 65-36 Tuesday night.

A 22-11 and a 13-7 second and third quarter (respectively) helped push the Cardinals ahead in the middle stages of the game, ensuring a season-ending win.

CD was led in scoring by Cole Pedersen's 24 points. Michel Evertsen scored 20 points.

Clarke stats were unavailable at press time.

Martensdale-St. Marys 80, Central Decatur 74 (OT)

LEON – It took overtime, but Martensdale-St. Marys outlasted Central Decatur Friday night in a 80-74 contest.

A high-scoring 29-29 fourth quarter spurned an overtime period where CD was edged 14-8.

Pedersen and Matt Boothe both fouled out in the contest. Pedersen and Evertsen tied for the high in scoring with 16 points apiece. Kolby Hewlett and Trey Hullinger scored 13 points each.

Central Decatur 64, Centerville 48

CENTERVILLE – Central Decatur beat Centerville Thursday night in a 64 48 final.

A 20-10 and 16-10 first and second quarter set the tone for the Cards' win. Centerville made up ground in the third quarter at 16-12, but it was too late to surmount a comeback.

Evertsen led in scoring with 26 points. He had nine rebounds, six assists and five steals.

Mount Ayr 60, Interstate 35 39

MOUNT AYR – Mount Ayr rolled over Intestate 35 Monday night in a 60-39 final.

The Roadrunners were unable to keep up with the Raiders' firepower, getting outgunned in every quarter.

Carter Bussanmas scored 13 points and grabbed six rebounds. Sam Cox scored nine points.

Panorama 72, I-35 46

TRURO – Panorama beat I-35 Friday night 72-46.

A 44-25 first half for Panorama was enough to hold off the Roadrunners in the second half.

Bussanmas scored 21 points and Cox scored 15 points in the loss.
