Letter to the editor

I have lived in Osceola all my life. It used to be a town to be proud to live in. Most of all at town that home owners took pride in their properties they owned. I admit there were some that didn’t but in a town this size that’s predictable.

I am writing this letter because for years we went through all the proper channels to get a property that is located behind ours cleaned up! I have wrote many letters, my husband has talked personally to city employees about this subject as well but nothing gets done! The city code states it has to be a nuisance before anything can get done. Now, think to yourself, what do you call a nuisance? Our nuisance is many brush piles that have been there at this property since we moved here, seven years. It sold once during this time and the new owners use it for a rental property. The new owner didn’t clean anything up on this property I watched as they added more brush to the already piles that were there! These piles even have mice in them! Are mice a nuisance? Are brush piles like these that have been there for at least 7 years that we know of a nuisance? Now if every home owner put all their brush in piles in their back yards, what would you be looking at? Would it be a nusiance? Just because a house becomes a rental property does NOT mean its ok to do this! What do you call a nuisance? How frustrated would you be?
