Letter to the editor

I am disturbed by an issue in our local government. It is neither Democratic or Republican. It involves our elections on November 5 for school board and city council.

Our family lived in several Wisconsin and Iowa communities before moving to Osceola 26 years ago. I have never observed nor heard of what possibly could happen in Osceola as a result of the next election.

Thanks to the Sentinel-Tribune for the coverage of the school board candidates. There is a candidate, Doug Gay, who is on the ballot running for both city council and school board.

I don’t know why he decided to run for both offices. I don’t know him and I have no idea about his abilities and objectives. It is just plain bad government for our community to have a person so arrogant that he thinks he can do justice to both positions. Doug Gay’s wife is an employee of the school district. That also is bad government.

Doug Gay has an opponent in the school board election but is running unopposed in the city council election.

My main point is to strongly encourage Clarke Community School District residents to vote against Doug Gay in the November 5 election.
